Michel Stassart
Michel Stassart comes from Belgium and has been working as a professional model builder since 1990.
He originally started to build customised model cars for different customers, one of whom was Jacques Swaters, Ferrari importer in Belgium and owner of the famous “Ecurie Francorchamps”. Through this relationship he became well known to many collectors. The requests for building scale models became not only more frequent, but also more complex, ending in creating models, at different scales.
From then on his hobby and passion became a professional career.
At the request of an owner of the real car, he undertook the creation of the Ferrari 333SP in 1/8 scale, starting from scratch. All the parts of this model car were developed and constructed at home. As this famous racing car has had a wide variety of liveries, he has been able to satisfy many owners to get the exact model as per their specifications.
Many of Michel’s clients are collectors of famous Le Mans racing cars, Michel being engaged to create and build the famous Cobra Daytona Coupe that made history at Le Mans, in 1/8 scale, literally starting with a white sheet of paper.
It is only by rigorously respecting the dimensions of each single piece of body work or part and scaling them down precisely, that such a complex model car can be assembled.
Michel’s work is all encompassing in its detail, with every section of the model being treated as individual components and then built to that high standard. Finally, the model is completed with the specific livery to suit the wishes of the buyer.
