BUGATTI Type 50   Le Mans 1931 n°6

Chassis 50181 - As driven by Maurice ROST   &   Achille VARZI

This is the third factory car of 1931. It was completely destroyed when it crashed into a tree and killed a reckless spectator during the 1931 Le Mans. One of the tires interfered with the brake cable while the car was traveling at full speed, forcing the car to spin around and crash. The driver, Maurice Rost, was seriously injured in the accident. The engine was the only part left untouched by the accident, it was later used on chassis n°50112. Its driver, Maurice Rost, was seriously injured in the accident.

The 1:8th scale model is entirely made out of aluminium, brass and steel. The engine is completely screwed, which means that it can be totally dismantled. The crankcase and the clutch housing are moulded in aluminium according to a lost-wax casting process. All the other parts are manufactured or assembled through mechanical welding.
