MATRA-SIMCA SHELL N 15 WINNER 24h LE MANS 1972 - H.PESCAROLO - G.HILL

The No 15 and No 14 Matra Simca MS670’s both participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1972. The car derived from the MS 660, and it was a specific attempt by the French manufacturer to win Le Mans and bring the trophy to France after the last victory of a transalpine car in 1950 with the Talbot Lago T36 GS.

The French Equipe Matra Simca Shell team with Henry Pescarolo and Graham Hill at the wheel of the No.15 Matra Simca MS670 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1972, for the Matra and for the pilots it was their first victory, Graham Hill achieved a magnificent triple crown; having won the Grand Prix of Monaco, the 500 miles of Indianapolis and the 24 hours of Le Mans. In second place came the twin Matra Simca car No.14 of Cevert and Ganley with a gap of ten laps.
